Marcus Edwards

Marcus Edwards (born 3 December 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a attacking midfielder for Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino compared Edwards to a young Lionel Messi due to his low centre of gravity and ability to beat a man.

Youth Career

Joined Tottenham academy aged 8.

Played for the Tottenham Under-18’s while still a schoolboy.

Made his Tottenham Under-21 debut as a substitute in a 4-1 defeat to Reading on 14 September 2015.

Reported interest from Barcelona in March 2016.

Signed his first professional contract with Tottenhamin August 2016.

Tottenham Hotspur

Joined the Tottenham first team in the summer of 2016 for their pre-season tour.

Made his Tottenham debut in the EFL Cup against Gillingham as a substitute for the final 15 minutes and hit the crossbar in September 2016.

Signed a new contract in July 2017, keeping him with the club till 2020.


Earned a total of 18 caps and scored five goals for the Under-17s.
