Federico Valverde (born 22 July 1998) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Real Madrid.

Youth Career

Joined Penarol in Uruguay as an under 14’s player.

Had a week-long trial at Arsenal before moving to Madrid.


Made his debut for Peñarol in first fixture of 2015–16 Uruguayan Primera División season against Cerro.

Won the 2015/16 Uruguayan championship.

Real Madrid Castilla

Joined Real Madrid in July 2016 for £4.5 million, when he turned 18.

Made his debut for Real Madrid Castilla against Real Unión in August 2016.

Scored his first goal for Castilla against Albacete in December 2016.

Deportivo La Coruna (loan)

In June 2017, Valverde Joined Deportivo La Coruna on loan for the 2017-18 season, it was stated that there is no option to buy.


Federico has represented Uruguay at Under-15, Under-17 and Under-18s level.

Ended the 2015 South American Under-17 Championship with seven goals in eight games.

Called up to the Uruguay sqaud for the 2017 Under-20 World Cup, winning the Silver Ball for 2nd best player.
