Lebohang Mokoena made his debut for Orlando Pirates aged 17. The attacker, now 28, has remained in South Africa throughout his career and currently plays for Sundowns and has been capped 8 times for Bafana Bafana.
Lebohang Mokoena had a keen interest in sprinting and broke records in the 100, 200 and 800 meter events at his Primary school but it was football where he really excelled playing for his local team, Diepkloof Hellenic.
Promoted to the Orlando Pirates first team at the age of seventeen. Mokoena made his PSL debut coming on as a substitute in the 2–2 draw away to Santos. He went on to play twenty-four matches in that season, starting eleven and scoring five goals.
In the next season he won the club’s Most Improved Player of the Year award.
In 2006 Lebohang was promoted to Orlando Pirates senior team where he spent three seasons, before moving to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Struggling with long-term injuries in recent years,it seems Mokoena needs a move to rejuvenate his career.
