Joe Gomez (born 23 May 1997) is an English footballer who plays for Liverpool as a centre back.
Gomez graduated through the academy at Charlton Athletic.
Made his debut for the Charlton Under-18’s at just 13 years old.
Made his senior debut in a 4–0 League Cup victory over Colchester United in August 2014.
Started his first league game in a 3–2 home win against Derby County a week later.
Nominated for the 2015 LFE Championship Apprentice Award
Won the Charlton 2015 young player of the year.
Joined for Liverpool in 2015 for £3.5 million.
Made his debut against Stoke City in August 2015 and set up Philippe Coutinho’s match-winning goal.
Suffered a anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for England U21’s and spent a full year injured.
Signed a long-term contract keeping him at the club until 2022 in January 2017.
Won the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and named in UEFA’s team of the tournament.
Made his England Under-21 debut in August 2015.
Called up to the senior England squad for the first time in November 2017, making his debut against Germany in the same month.
