Gedion Zelalem (born 26 January 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Arsenal.
His youth career started at Hertha Berlin.
in the city where he was born, but he followed his family to the US in 2006 and played for MSC United and Bethesda Soccer Club, before joining Olney Rangers. He was then picked up by Arsenal aged 16. Excellent on the ball, with a mesmeric weight of pass and close control allowing him to dribble past players with ease. He can unlock an entire team with one brush stroke of his foot. Became the first player born after Arsene Wenger joined Arsenal to play for the club.
On 24 January 2014, Zelalem made his debut with Arsenal’s senior squad, coming on as a substitute for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 71st minute of their 4–0 home FA Cup victory against Coventry City.
Joined Rangers on six-month loan in August 2015.
Made his debut in a 5–0 win over Airdrieonians in the Scottish League Cup, setting up goals.
Started his first league game against Queen of the South a few weeks later.
In January 2016 his loan was extended through to the end of the season.

Joined Dutch 2nd-tier side VVV Venlo on a six month loan in January 2017.
Gedion has represented Germany at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 level. It is believed he is also eligible to represent the USA, where he grew up.
